This month, San Diego experience a 5.1 earthquake. We want to thank all Terry Towners for staying calm and quickly heading to your designated safety areas. In this article, Jesus shares key safety tips to keep in mind during emergencies. It's a great reminder to always stay prepared - know your evacuation routes, review safety procedures regularly, and take drills seriously. Your safety is our top priority - let's stay ready, together.
What to do if there is an earthquake:
Know your evacuations routes.
Remember: Drop - Cover - Hold on
Secure heavy equipment & shelves
During an Earthquake: Stay Safe
Drop to the ground
Cover under sturdy furniture
Hold On until the shaking stops
Shut down machines only if safe
After Earthquake: Act quickly
Check for injuries - first aid stations
Evacuate to assembly point
Headcount - report missing people
Watch for hazards (fire, gas leaks, spills)
Do not re-enter until cleared
When you see fire or smell smoke - act immediately
Activate the nearest fire alarm
Call emergency services
Report the fire to supervisor immediately
Shout "fire!" to alert nearby coworkers
Do not try to fight large fires
Evacuating the building
Leave immediately using the nearest safe exit
Stay low if smoke is present - crawl under smoke
Only use fire extinguishers for small fires and only if trained
Help others if safe, but not delay evacuation
Do not return to your work station
