This month, San Diego experience a 5.1 earthquake. We want to thank all Terry Towners for staying calm and quickly heading to your designated safety areas. In this article, Jesus shares key safety tips to keep in mind during emergencies. It's a great reminder to always stay prepared - know your evacuation routes, review safety procedures regularly, and take drills seriously. Your safety is our top priority - let's stay ready, together.

What to do if there is an earthquake:

  1. Know your evacuations routes.

  2. Remember: Drop - Cover - Hold on

  3. Secure heavy equipment & shelves

During an Earthquake: Stay Safe

  • Drop to the ground

  • Cover under sturdy furniture

  • Hold On until the shaking stops

  • Shut down machines only if safe

After Earthquake: Act quickly

  • Check for injuries - first aid stations

  • Evacuate to assembly point

  • Headcount - report missing people

  • Watch for hazards (fire, gas leaks, spills)

  • Do not re-enter until cleared

When you see fire or smell smoke - act immediately

  • Activate the nearest fire alarm

  • Call emergency services

  • Report the fire to supervisor immediately

  • Shout "fire!" to alert nearby coworkers

  • Do not try to fight large fires

Evacuating the building

  • Leave immediately using the nearest safe exit

  • Stay low if smoke is present - crawl under smoke

  • Only use fire extinguishers for small fires and only if trained

  • Help others if safe, but not delay evacuation

  • Do not return to your work station
