Terry Towner Spotlight: Get To Know Baslan Jalahej

Since joining Terry Town in 2017, Baslan has been a driving force behind our Screen Print department. His journey began in Embroidery, where he learned the ins and outs of the company. Baslan expressed to have felt tremendous support from the Terry Town team since the very beginning.

Finding Terry Town has been one of the most rewarding experiences for Baslan, as it was his first official job since moving to the United States from Syria. 

With a degree in Agricultural Engineering, Baslan brings a wealth of experience, a strong work ethic, and invaluable knowledge to the team.

For 25 years, Baslan managed chicken farms in Syria. He described it as a challenging experience as they can be unpredictable. However, the skills he acquired during that time have significantly contributed to his current role. He's no stranger to lending a helping hand around Terry Town beyond his job duties. 

Baslan's journey brought him to Jordan before eventually arriving in the United States. When he reached the U.S., he shared that it wasn't the fairytale he had imagined. "No country is perfect" he observes. “Every country has its challenges and distinct lifestyles.” He believes that, at their core, all countries are fundamentally similar, but each offers a unique way of life. 

Baslan loves exploring foods from all around the world. He recently visited Mexico with Francisco, where he was extremely impressed after tasting shrimp tacos and described them as incredibly delicious.

One of the highlights of Baslan’s career at Terry Town has been his integral role in establishing the Screen Print department. He takes immense pride in watching the department grow and evolve, noting, "There is always something to do." Baslan helped start the department and has witnessed every stage of its development. From learning the complexity of applying ink to textiles to mastering the machinery, he has been there every step of the way.

Baslan has a strong vision for the department's future, with his main goal being to expand the team and operations by introducing more machines to create more job opportunities and promote upward mobility. Baslan's dedication to improving workflows is evident in one of his recent projects where he worked alongside his team to improve the ink station. This initiative not only enhanced efficiency but also streamlined processes for the entire team. Outside of work, Baslan cherishes moments with his family, especially his three sons. He enjoys watching movies at home and loves to sit down, relax, and watch Formula racing. In Syria, he enjoyed competing in neighborhood soccer games where he played every position except goalkeeper.
