Terry Towner Spotlight: Meet Marcela

For this month's special spotlight, we are excited to introduce you to Marcela, a keystone to our team at Terry Town. Marcela has been an integral part of our journey for over 11 years, witnessing and significantly contributing to the company's immense growth.

Marcela’s journey with us began in a rather memorable way. After her interview, she was nervously looking for the exit of our old building when she mistakenly walked into Jeff’s office. She franticly tried to find the exit but instead found Jeff staring at her. This unexpected encounter was her first experience with Jeff’s fun, sense of humor. Despite the initial confusion, that amusing moment became a fond memory and a sign that she had found the right place for her.

Looking back on her early days, Marcela fondly remembers the playful teasing and fun times among her coworkers. Monday mornings often revolved around exchanging theories and opinions on the latest episodes of Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

But what truly drives Marcela is the satisfaction of helping others. Whether it’s a customer or a team member, she finds joy in feeling that she helped make a positive impact. After 6 years of growing in her customer service and sales roles, Marcela got the opportunity to become the Customer Service Supervisor.

In this role, she's seen the customer service team grow from just three members to a robust team of 14. Marcela’s greatest pride lies in seeing her team succeed and witnessing their personal growth. She strives to provide her team with the tools she has learned throughout her career. Her biggest aspiration is to support her team and to keep growing and learning with them. 

One of her favorite projects she led was improving our workflow with a training manual, which significantly increased our efficiency.

One of Marcela’s most memorable moments was attending the Billy Mac Show with our sales rep, Livier Gomez. Together, they showed their Mexican heritage by offering customers tequila, earning the playful nickname "The Tequila Girls". This fun initiative not only delighted our customers but also strengthened their connection with Terry Town. The tequila was a success, as customers kept coming back for more.

Marcela attributes her tough character and hard-working nature to her mom. She draws inspiration from her mother, whom she describes as a figure of tough love and unwavering support. Her mother’s strength and encouragement are a driving force in Marcela’s life. She maintains a positive mindset by walking to the office with a "get to it" attitude.

Outside of work, Marcela loves spending time with friends, enjoying delicious meals, and relaxing with a few beers at a bar. But live music is Marcela's biggest joy, where she feels her fullest self and embraces every experience.

She's now been to over 200 concerts, the most memorable ones being Soda Stereo, Daft Punk, and Sade. She attended the first six Coachella festivals, seeing many amazing artists over the years. Before Terry Town, Marcela worked at a radio station and once had to entertain a crowd of 20,000 people when the opening act for La Ley did not show up!

Marcela’s journey at Terry Town embodies her unwavering dedication and genuine passion for helping others. Her commitment to both personal and professional growth has made her an invaluable member of our team. Through our company’s evolution, she has been a steadfast supporter, navigating countless challenging hours and tough times with resilience. We are grateful for her contributions and look forward to many more years of success together.

As a team, they faced one of their most challenging periods following the cyberattack. We want to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to Marcela and our incredible team of CXRs. Their dedication and resilience in handling customers and finding solutions during this tough time have made us shine even brighter. Thank you, Team!
